Orlando Books Collective Entrance Award Endowment

Orlando Books CollectiveEvery year iSMSS offers one $1000 entrance award to a high school student entering the University of Alberta for an undergraduate degree program. Selection is based on demonstrated leadership qualities and involvement in school and community activities. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated commitment to the advancement of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified, two-spirited, or queer communities.

Camp fYrefly Fund

Camp fYreflyThis unrestricted fund supports the Institute's award-winning Camp fYrefly
 leadership program for sexual and gender minority youth. A donation of $300.00 pays the
food and accommodation costs for one youth to attend Camp fYrefly. Send a 
kid to camp and give them the chance you never had!

The iSMSS Sustainability Endowment helps to support core operations and allows us to continue to develop innovative and award-winning programming and research.

Lighting the Way Fund

Lighting the WayThis unrestricted fund allows iSMSS to develop innovative projects such as our nohomophobes.com initiative. This fund also helps us to support new research-based educational programs, community outreach activities, and allows us to bring world-renowned queer scholars to provide public lectures and to work with our students.

The UofA Pride Week Fund helps to support the development and delivery of Pride Week on UofA campuses.

Stephen and Lynn Mandel Graduate Scholarship Endowment

Scholarships & AwardsEach year iSMSS offers a $1,000 scholarship to a graduate student at the University of Alberta with superior academic achievement and quality research focused on sexual and gender minority studies and their application in advocating for sexual and gender minorities in educational and community contexts.
