The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services is committed to helping develop safer, more respectful, and inclusive K-12 and postsecondary classroom environments for sexual and gender minority and questioning students and allies through research and the creation of evidence-informed resources, support for inclusive policy development, and comprehensive professional development.

Over the past several years, iSMSS has worked closely with the Canadian Teachers’ Federation, Public Health Agency of Canada, UNESCO, World Health Organization, Alberta Teachers’ Association, Alberta Government, Edmonton Public Schools and many other school boards across Canada to help build the organizational capacity and institutional resilience needed to more effectively support sexual and gender minority children, youth, and families.
